We spoke with Marius Stigvoll, Low Voltage technician, at Hemer Lås & Dørtelefon AS to hear about what they and their customers think about Defigo.

Hemer Lås & Dørtelefon AS is a locksmith operating both in Oslo and Bærum. They’re experts in everything intercom, access control, lock systems, door/gate automation and camera surveillance. Hemer Lås & Dørtelefon AS has been working in the field since 1978.
Hemer Lås & Dørtelefon AS have long been partners of Defigo, having installed almost 100 systems in that time. We spoke with Marius Stigvoll, Low Voltage technician, at Hemer Lås & Dørtelefon AS to hear about what they and their customers think about Defigo.
Marius installs the majority of the Defigo systems at Hemer Lås & Dørtelefon AS and therefore knows the system inside and out.
“My favorite part about Defigo is how easy it is to install. With some systems an installation can take multiple days. Especially for retrofits, I spend hours removing the old cable systems. I have to enter every apartment, lay new cabling, et cetera. The whole process is very labour-intensive. With Defigo, a complete installation averages about 2 hours. There’s hardly any wiring needed. And I don’t need to access anyone’s apartment, so there’s no waiting period or requirements from the tenants.”
The Defigo system only requires two cables, a PoE and a relay. And since connection to each resident is over the internet, either with the mobile app or the Home Station, the only installation necessary is at the front door.
On occasion, Stigvoll has met some hurdles installing Defigo, but has always found support ready to assist him.
“Every building is different and sometimes things happen, but Defigo is quick to answer when I call. They offer good support, so there’s never been anything we haven’t been able to solve.”
And when the job is done, it is done.
“There’s little work to be done afterwards,” Stigvoll continued. “Often with alternative intercom systems, when residents get locked out and can’t reach their intercom provider, they call me.” he explained. “But with Defigo, they get the support they need from Defigo directly.”
Defigo offers customer support which means the end users can always get help directly from the support team via Defigo’s Knowledge Base, thus reducing the number of calls the partners receive after installation.
But that’s not the only selling point for customers, Sigvoll continued, “Choosing Defigo is usually an easy decision for the customer. Oftentimes they want to modernize their entire access setup because they’ve had the same intercom for 20 years or more. Defigo allows them to do that easily. It’s user friendly for young and old and improves the overall look of the building too.”
There are a multitude of reasons why customers choose Defigo. For many, the chance to access their building just using their smart phone is a good enough reason. For others, the less invasive installation is appealing because their building is historical. For others, great visitor management is the key.
“But the building owners that are worried about security and control are definitely the most eager of all of our customers. I’m often approached by building owners specifically for the safety benefits of Defigo.”
Defigo offers one-way video of visitors, a control box installed inside the building, and a security frame, among many other safety elements, which makes it significantly more secure against break-ins than legacy systems.
“More people are concerned about the security of their buildings these days, so it’s nice to show them that Defigo can both modernize and secure the building.”
After working with Defigo for a number of years, Stigvoll has seen a number of benefits for him and his company, and explains why other partners should consider installing Defigo.
“The biggest upside for partners is the easy installation. It’s much more efficient, and you’re able to service many more clients a day. I would recommend other installers to offer Defigo. Customers genuinely want to buy it, it’s easy to install and you get excellent support from the Defigo team.”
